Privacy Policy

Privacy policy for MergePNG (mergepng.org): what we collect, what we never collect, how ads and cookies work, and your choices.

Last updated: 2026-09-03

The short version

MergePNG is a browser-based image tool. Your image files are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to our servers or anyone else's. We do not have accounts, we do not ask for your email to use the tools, and we do not sell personal data. What we do use is standard web analytics and advertising cookies, described below, because the site is funded by ads.

Image files: processed locally, never uploaded

All merge, convert, compress, split and resize operations run inside your browser using JavaScript (the Canvas API, WebAssembly and locally loaded libraries). When you add files to a tool:

  • The files are read by your browser directly from your device.
  • Processing happens in the page's memory. No network request carries your images anywhere.
  • When you close or reload the tab, everything is gone. There is nothing stored on a server to delete, because nothing was ever sent.

You can verify this claim yourself: load a tool page, disconnect from the internet, and it keeps working.

Information we collect

We run lightweight, privacy-respecting analytics that record page views, the pages you visit, approximate country, browser and device type. This data is aggregated and does not identify you as a person.

Server logs (kept by our hosting provider for security and abuse monitoring) may include your IP address, request time and requested URL for a short retention period.

If you email us (see the Contact page), we keep your message and email address so we can reply, and delete them when the conversation is resolved.

Advertising and cookies

We display ads through Google AdSense to fund the site. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.

  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking cookies does not disable any tool on this site.

Where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), we show a consent notice before setting non-essential cookies, in line with the EU ePrivacy Directive and the GDPR legitimate-interest framework for advertising.

Your rights under GDPR and CCPA

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, export and erase personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what personal information is collected and to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information as that term is defined by the CCPA.

Because we hold almost no personal data, most requests will simply confirm that. To exercise any right, email us via the Contact page.

Children's privacy

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The tools themselves are usable without providing any personal information at all.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, the updated date at the top of the page will change and, where appropriate, we will announce it on the homepage.
